The Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, was established in 1970 and is the earliest research base for respiratory diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China. The department is a National Key Clinical Specialty in TCM and a regional diagnosis and treatment center under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The department holds a leading position in China in treating complex respiratory diseases through the integration of TCM and Western medicine.

With Cai Lianxiang, a Capital Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, serving as the academic leader, it operates five renowned physician studios. The department specializes in the integrated use of traditional Chinese and Western medicine to treat infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and menstrual disorders, maintaining a leading position in China.

National Clinical Key Specialty

Established in 1962, it is one of the earliest traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hematology departments in China. The department integrates TCM with Western medicine and holds a leading position in the fields of aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and leukemia. It also pioneered the use of Qinghuang Powder for treating leukemia.
